Seeing Red This Christmas

Seems that I have a new pregnancy symptom which is so fun. Part of me wonders if it is the dry weather of winter or if it truly is a pregnancy symptom. Either way I started to experience bloody noses for the first time in as long as I can remember. They really aren't a big deal and they don't gush, but when I go to blow my nose I find that my tissue is full of blood.

The reason I hate these bloody noses is that I cannot tell you how many times it starts during my treatments. I will be nebbing HTS, coughing, and spitting when all of the sudden bright red blood will fall into my cup. I panic thinking my lungs are bleeding only to blow my nose and find the tissue full of blood. If I wait five minutes of so it subsides and I can continue my treatment like normal, but it sure scares the crap out of me in the meantime.

I have an appointment again tomorrow with my high risk OB and will be sure to update. I hope I get a chance to see my little peanut again!!

  1. Hope your holidays were nice and relaxing, although, I am not sure they can ever be relaxing! Quick question for you about Mucinex. DId you feel any side effects? I got really anxious and couldn't sleep at night and on top of that I had an overflow of mucus when I did my treatments. I think I may have to pass on the Mucinex :(

  2. Thanks! I hope you had a nice holiday and will have a fun and safe NYE. Sorry for the slow response. I did not notice any adverse effects to Mucinex at all, but I would definitely stay away from it with your side effects. This may be a dumb idea, but I wonder if the liquid form of Guaifenesin would be better. That is what people used when ttc before Mucinex came out.

The other thing that I think works well and has zero side effects is keeping track of you cycle. I started marking on a calendar a year before ttc when I thought I was ovulating as well as any symptoms I felt around that time- sore/swollen breasts, cm, cramps, anything that could be used as a warning that ovulation was coming. I then marked when my period came (always 14 days after ovulation) This helped me learn my cycles and when I would be ovulating. When I started ttc I bought ovulation predictor kits which were fine, but by that point I knew when I was going to ovulate anyway. Also, I started charting with temps the month I got pregnant so it didn't end up paying off for me, but it is another tool that can be used to find out the right time.

Good luck! I can't wait to see what 2012 brings for you!!!
